An interpretation of Jixi as seen in the Mao-shi written in the Shanghai Museum Bamboo Scrolls

The expression Jixi (熙緝) appears in five poems of the classic anthology M ao-shi (毛詩): Wen-wan (文王), Wei-qing (維清), Hao-tian-you-cheng-ming (昊天有成命), Zai-jian (載見), and Jing-zhi (敬之). This paper analyzes the interpretation of Jixi in the Sengoku Period.
The expression Jixi was annotated as “glorious" in both the Han Dynasty and Later Han Dynasty version of Mao-shi, titled Mao-zhuan (毛伝) and Zheng-jian (鄭箋) respectively. (However, this excludes the poem Hao-tian-you-cheng-ming.) On the other hand, the writer Zhu-zi annotated Jixi, as “inherit something and reveal it" in the Son Dynasty incarnation of Mao-shi, titled Shi-ji-zhuan (詩集伝).
A similar expression, Jixi ( ), appeared in the recently-discovered “Shanghai Museum Sengoku Period Bamboo Scroll." The meaning “to receive and never stop" was derived from an analysis of the shape and reading of Jixi's characters.
