独自に作成した教材に対する学生の反応を分析した。理工系の学生用に作成されたそのテキストは、学生の評価が高かった。コンテンツを吟味することによって、科学者や技術者に必要とされるプレゼンテーション能力、批判的思考力の育成にも貢献できることを検証し、学習者の目的や興味に合わせたカリキュラム作成の重要性を提示している。

本論では、ポップアーティスト宇多田ヒカルが、CNNのインタビューを受けた際に使われていた英語の「あいまい表現」をコーパスに基づいて作成された「Touchstone」シリーズのテキストで取り扱われているそれと比較し、大学の英語教育でのその意義を検証した。自然な英語でコミュニケーションを取れるようになるという観点からみると、英語の「あいまい表現」を大学における英語教育の中で、もっと取り上げるべきであることを提案した。

教育学部の学生を対象として行ったプロジェクトが、学生の自主性にどう作用したのかを、学生のアンケートに基づいて分析した。プロジェクトを構成するのは、授業内でのグループワーク、および授業時間外で学習者がつける日記である。授業では映画「今を生きる」を使い、様々なテーマに基づいて議論することを中心としたワークを行ったが、それが学生からの評価が高かった。また本論では、autonomyに関するコンセプトを東洋的、および西洋的な観点から検討した。

理工系・農学系専攻の大学生を中心に行った英語ネイティブと日本人英語教師の共同授業について紹介した。学生の専門分野に合わせた内容中心の授業を行うことにより、学生の英語学習に対する学生の動機づけにどう影響したかということを質問紙調査および授業に協力した2人の大学教員の聞き取り調査の結果も含めて分析した。
