A series of high-molecular-weight (Mn up to 29000) multiblock poly(N-methylbenzamide)-b-poly(ethylene glycol) polymers [poly(MABx–x-b-PEG)], utilizing monodisperse telechelic aromatic N-methylbenzamide-based molecules (MABx–x) (molar mass distribution Mw/Mn = 1.02–1.04) with H2N-PEG-NH2, were successfully prepared via conventional solution polycondensation; their shape-memory and moisture-responsive properties were thoroughly investigated. The resultant multiblock copolymers showed three thermal transitions: the glass transition (Tg) and melting (Tm) of the PEG segment at −35 and 55 °C, respectively, and Tg of the MABx-x segment at 215 °C.

The spontaneous growth of helical fibers of amphiphilic diamide derivatives containing hydrocarbons with asymmetric carbon centers in their constituent hydrocarbons was investigated. 12-Hydroxystearic acid and a gemini-type surfactant obtained by the bimolecular condensation of this compound with hexamethylenediamine both impart thixotropic ability to a solvent. Although this thixotropic behavior is based on the growth of hierarchical crystalline nanofibers in the solvents, the degree of fiber growth itself was not the origin of the thixotropy. In this study, it has adopted the methods of the Langmuir monolayer and Langmuir–Blodgett films as technique to selectively and individually evaluate the behavior of 12-hydroxyl stearyl and/or stearyl chains themselves.

Originally designed trans-chelating diphosphine ligands with moderate flexibility that allows trans- to cis-isomerization and bidentate to monodentate complex form were developed. The novel ligand shows high ligand acceleration effect (LAE) for Heck reaction. The catalyst loading was decreased to 0.0001 mol%, and the turnover number (TON) reached 970,000. The catalytic cycle was evaluated by DFT calculations.
