機械的合金化により改良したMgB2の結晶性と超伝導特性について報告する。MgとBの粉末から機械的合金化によりMgB2を合成し、さらに900度の温度で1時間アニール処理することで最も高い単一相(約90%)のMgB2合成に成功した。残留抵抗比も改善され、超伝導特性も向上した。

Sm1-2-20系化合物の一つであるSmPt2Cd20の超音波計測による弾性特性および低温特性について研究したので報告する。強磁性転移温度0.64 Kに向かう明瞭な弾性異常が横波弾性率 (C11-C12)/2の温度変化に観測された。この弾性異常を変形ポテンシャル近似を用いて詳細に解析することで、Smの4f電子が基底状態で遍歴性を有していると結論づけた。

PbTeの単結晶試料を用いて電気輸送現象、磁気特性、弾性特性の磁場依存性を55Tまでの強磁場領域で明らかにした。明瞭なゼーマン分裂を伴う量子振動が観測され、ディラク電子度合いについて定量的に評価した。また、このゼーマン分裂が非自明なベリー相の差っ引きの際に用いられるランダウ準位ファン相に大きな影響を与えることも指摘した。

Biの量子極限状態の基本物性について、磁気抵抗、磁化、磁歪、超音波計測によって60Tまでの強磁場領域において研究を行った。39 T付近でフェルミ面の電子ポケットの完全バレー偏極に起因する明瞭な符号の変化が磁歪に出現した。磁場誘起バレー分裂の出現の可能性について議論する。
